The New York Yankees made a flurry of roster moves pertaining to the minor leagues, including the promotion of highly-touted shortstop prospect George Lombard Jr. on Tuesday.

The Yankees' first-round pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, Lombard is one of the top prospects in the organization.

The team announced the 19-year-old was promoted from the Tampa Tarpons (Low-A) to the Hudson Valley Renegades (High-A).

While it's not a massive promotion, it does signal that the Yankees have been impressed with what Lombard has shown during the 2024 season in the minor leagues.

The son of former MLB outfielder and current bench coach for the Detroit Tigers, Lombard hit .232 with five home runs, 37 RBI, 30 stolen bases and a .692 OPS in 81 games at Tampa.

In the updated MLB Pipeline prospect rankings , Lombard came in at No. 6 for the Yankees. It is a bit interesting that the Yankees opted not to promote fellow shortstop Roderick Arias, who is No. 4 on the updated list.

Another notable move within the organization included the promotion of second baseman Caleb Durbin from Somerset (Double-A) to Scranton Wilkes/Barre (Triple-A).
