    Corrections and clarifications

    • An article ( Offshore wind will power 20m homes within five years, Starmer to pledge , 25 July, p2) was meant to say that the Labour government has pledged, by 2030, to have seabed licences in place for wind projects that could power 20m homes, not that they would be built by then. The article also referred to “parts of the seabed owned by the royal family”. To clarify: nearly all the UK’s seabed (to a distance of 12 nautical miles) is owned by the crown estate, whose assets are the hereditary possession of the monarch during their reign, but it is not their personal property. HM Treasury receives the estate’s annual profits, from which it pays an agreed portion as the “sovereign grant” to fund the monarchy’s official duties.
