The National Weather Service Hanford has issued an updated Area Forecast Discussion for the region.

Residents of the San Joaquin Valley and Kern County desert should brace for soaring temperatures, with highs expected to reach 105 degrees today and tomorrow in the valley and up to 112 degrees in the Kern desert, the NWS stated.

An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect through 9 PM Wednesday for both areas due to ongoing extreme heat risks. However, relief is on the horizon, with temperatures anticipated to gradually cool throughout the week and into the weekend, reaching near-normal levels by Sunday, according to the NWS.

Looking ahead, there is a 33-40% chance of below-normal temperatures over the next two weeks, according to the Climate Prediction Center, the NWS added.
