Notre Dame football assistant named as a rising star in college football by 247Sports

For the eighteenth time, 247Sports released their 30 Under 30 list, highlighting College football’s young coaches and rising stars. This list is always excellent, giving some kudos to people who aren’t regularly in the spotlight.

Included on the list was Notre Dame Director of Player Personnel Zaire Turner. She is someone who has been referenced several times, including by head coach Marcus Freeman in his press conference to kick off fall practice. It appears she has made quite the impression on more than just Coach Freeman.

Turner was previously a part of the Virginia Tech football program. She was hired by Notre Dame a few years ago, serving in a different position in the recruiting department. Earlier this offseason, she was elevated to the Director of Player Personnel position. She has been viewed as a linchpin of the Notre Dame advanced recruiting efforts under Coach Freeman, Chad Bowden, and the staff.

With her promotion, Turner became just the second woman to hold a Director of Player Personnel position. The other is Callie Cameron, who holds the same position with the Baylor Bears.

Turner was also only one of two women included on the list, joining Taylor Searels who is the Director of Recruiting with the Texas Longhorns. That is an incredible honor for them both, continuing the charge for women in sports to get more recognition that they deserve.

With Turner in her new role, Notre Dame fans are going to get to know her more and more with the recruiting efforts for the Irish. Coach Freeman has made huge strides with the expectations concerning recruiting with the Irish. As more improvements come, you can bet that Turner will be involved directly.
