Nearly 20 years into her career, Taylor Swift is still breaking records right and left. Ticket sales for her “Eras” tour are still in the stratosphere. In February, she became the first (and only) artist to take home the GRAMMY for Album of the Year four times. And when the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards ceremony hits screens next month (Sept. 10), the “Karma” singer will have the chance to break even more records.

Taylor Swift Could Make History At This Year’s VMA Awards

Taylor Swift leads all 2024 VMA nominees with 10 nods. Post Malone isn’t far behind his collaborator with nine nominations. Ariana Grande follows with six.

“Fortnight,” Swift’s Post Malone collab, is the night’s most-nominated song. The monochrome fever dream earned the pop star nods for Video of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Collaboration. The video was also recognized in the Direction, Cinematography, Editing, Visual Effects, and Art Direction categories.

Swift’s other two nominations come in the Artist of the Year and Best Pop contests. And as usual, the “Anti-Hero” singer, 34, has the chance to make history. If “Fortnight” triumphs in the Video of the Year category, Swift will become the only artist to ever win the sought-after award five times and three times in a row.

However, the night’s most-nominated song does face stiff competition from Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Eminem and SZA.

OK, But When Is ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’ Coming?

Taylor Swift pulled a bait-and-switch on fans during the GRAMMY Awards. The pop star left a cryptic breadcrumb trail leading up to the ceremony that had Swifties convinced Reputation (Taylor’s Version) was imminent. Instead, she announced a brand-new album. With 10 VMA nominations, is Sept. 10 the moment Swifties have been waiting for?

The “All Too Well” singer kicks off a three-month “Eras” tour hiatus in late August—meaning she very well could collect any potential trophies in person. Swift used her 2022 VMA acceptance speech to announce Midnights, her 10th studio album of original material.
