Noah Lyles' Reaction to Cole Hocker's Stunning Olympic 1500m Win Says It All

Cole Hocker shocked the world after winning gold in the Men's 1500M at the Paris Olympics. It's one of the biggest upsets you'll see in sports. On top of that, Hocker set a new Olympic record for the event. His victory spurned a stunned reaction from fellow gold medalist, Noah Lyles.
Hocker was a long shot to win the Men's 1500M, as he came in as a +2500 underdog, according to Covers. He somehow managed to beat the favorite in Norway's Jakob Ingebritson, who didn't medal in the event. The race was just pure electricity from start to finish as Hocker proved to be the best on the track on Tuesday.
As soon as Hocker took home the gold, Lyles hopped on social media and shared his stunned reaction. Hocker seemingly had Lyles "screaming" at his television screen watching the event. The rest of the U.S. was essentially in the same boat.
It was an electric finish for Team USA in general, as Yared Nuguse won bronze. It marks the first time in 112 years the USA had two winners on the podium in the Men's 1500M, per Bleacher Report. The USA has been phenomenal at the Paris Olympics as the track and field teams have been showing out.
With that said, this is a magnificent win for Hocker, as he defied the odds to win gold for the USA. The Men's 1500M has been a difficult event for the United States. 112 years since having two athletes on the podium is insane. Especially considering the Unites States is 248 years old.
But Lyles' reaction purely says it all. Although Hocker was a long shot to win, he's been a great athlete throughout his career. Hocker attended the University of Oregon, which dawns the nickname "Track Town." It's the No. 1 ranked program for track and field, as the top athletes around the nation try their best to attend Oregon.
In 2021, Hocker left Oregon and became a professional runner for Nike. It seems to be a great decision as he's now an Olympic gold medalist. At just 23 years old, we should expect to see Hocker at the 2028 Olympic Games which will be held in the United States.
As for Lyles, he's proven to be a winner as well after securing a gold medal himself in the Men's 100M dash. It's his only gold medal in his career, as he won the bronze medal in the Men's 200M at the Tokyo Olympics.
