    France power forward Victor Wembanyama.

France has scored the biggest upset of the Olympics thus far. The Victor Wembanyama-led team overcame Canada in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, securing an 82-73 victory over a team that was heavily favored to contend for a medal.

Here are three takeaways from the contest:

    Jamal Murray struggled

Murray is often considered to be the best player never to receive an All-Star selection. The former NBA champion looked miles away from being a star-level talent against France. He was tentative when initiating the offense, shaky on defense and indecisive on the drive. It also didn't help that Murray shot 3-for-13 from the field and 1-for-4 from deep.

The Denver Nuggets will undoubtedly be hoping Murray bounces back from such a tough performance in time for the new NBA season.

    No room for Rudy Gobert

France went away from their towering front court on Tuesday, with Gobert finding himself as the odd man out. Gobert has struggled at times in the tournament, and his limited interior game on offense has limited his overall impact. Without the towering center in the rotation, France was fluid and played with pace.

Of course, Wembanyama provided size, scoring and rebounding while also spacing the floor due to the threat of his perimeter shot. It will be interesting to see if Gobert is afforded a bigger role in the semifinals.

Guerschon Yabusele shined for the second time

For the second time in the Olympics, Yabusele looked like the best player on France's roster. Against Canada, he scored six of his nine field goal attempts, pulled down five rebounds and played some high-level defense. His performance will undoubtedly have caught the eye of teams around the world.

If Yabusele can continue playing at his current level, he should be firmly locked into the starting frontcourt for France's upcoming game. At that point, it's up to him to continue flourishing and helping propel his team towards a medal.
