What is the Borderlands movie about?

“Lilith, an infamous bounty hunter with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home, Pandora, the most chaotic planet in the galaxy. Her mission is to find the missing daughter of Atlas, the universe’s most powerful S.O.B,” reads the film’s synopsis. “Lilith forms an unexpected alliance with a ragtag team of misfits – Roland, a seasoned mercenary on a mission; Tiny Tina, a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg, Tina’s musclebound protector; Tannis, the oddball scientist who’s seen it all; and Claptrap, a wiseass robot. Together, these unlikely heroes must battle an alien species and dangerous bandits to uncover one of Pandora’s most explosive secrets. The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other.”

Borderlands is directed by Eli Roth from a screenplay he co-wrote with Joe Crombie. The film will be led by Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Kevin Hart as Roland, Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis, Jack Black as Claptrap, Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina, Florian Munteanu as Krieg, Benjamin Byron Davis as Marcus, Gina Gershon as Moxxi, Janina Gavankar as Commander Knoxx, Olivier Richters as Krum, Edgar Ramirez as Atlas, and Bobby Lee as Gary.

Additional cast also includes Haley Bennett, Cheyenne Jackson, Charles Babalola, Davis, Steven Boyer, Ryann Redmond. It is being produced by Arad Productions’ Avi Arad and Ari Arad, along with Picturestart’s Erik Feig, with Gearbox founder Randy Pitchford and CEO of Take-Two Interactive Strauss Zelnick executive producing.
