Simone Biles Makes Strong Statement After NFL Player Blasts Her Act of Sportsmanship Toward Rival

Simone Biles went through a lot to qualify for the Paris Olympics and return to the world's biggest stage -- but had no problem sharing the spotlight with a rival gymnast.

Biles and teammate Jordan Chiles showed their appreciation for Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade after the floor exercise final on August 5, bowing to Andrade as she stood atop the medal podium to receive her gold medal.

Their act of sportsmanship drew plenty of praise, but also an attack from Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey. The NFL player took to X to call their act "literally disgusting."

Biles didn't seem bothered by the criticism, saying she and Chiles were not out for personal accolades.

"I think it's all about sportsmanship, and we don't care whether we win or lose. We're always going to keep a good face and support our competitors because they've worked just as hard as we have for that moment," Biles said on NBC’s "Today" on Tuesday.

Both Biles and Andrade overcame plenty of adversity to reach the Paris Olympics. Biles had to pull out of several events at the Tokyo Olympics after suffering the "twisties," a condition that caused her to lose control while flying through the air. Andrade suffered a series of major injuries including three torn ACLs.

Biles managed to take home plenty of hardware from the Paris Olympics, leading Team USA to a gold medal in the team competition and another gold in the all-around. Biles also won a gold medal in the vault and a silver in the floor exercise.
