LeBron James' Epic Fail In Team USA Vs. Brazil Is Turning Heads

For Los Angeles Lakers and Team USA star LeBron James, he is often the biggest deal in any room he enters.

The four-time NBA champion and four-time NBA MVP is currently looking to help lead Team USA to what would be their fifth-straight gold medal, and even despite being nearly 40 years old is one of the best players. Something that was on display again on Tuesday, as he finished with 12 points and nine assists in Team USA's 122-87 win over Brazil in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

James has solidified himself as the team's general and top-dog, and is also widely viewed as one of the most popular players in the history of the sport. However, during Tuesday's game at the Bercy Arena in Paris, James may have been the second-most popular athlete in the building which he learned the hard way.

After checking out for what was the final time of the game with the United States up 114-80, the crowd happened to erupt after James had sat down. This prompted James who was on camera at the time to wave to the crowd and do his crown celebration. However, as it was later realized on the broadcast, the French crowd wasn't giving James an ovation, but giving one to someone who had just walked into the arena.

The crowd was cheering on French swimmer Léon Marchand who has emerged as the biggest star in swimming on the men's side, with many calling him the "French Michael Phelps".

While James is in fact a massive star, Marchand has taken the 2024 Games by storm winning five medals in total, four of which were gold. He won gold in the Men's 200m Breaststroke, Men's 200m Butterfly, Men's 200m Individual Medley, and in the Men's 400m Individual Medley while also adding a bronze in the Men's 4x100m Medley Relay.

As for James and Team USA, their win will lead to them meeting up against Nikola Jokic and Serbia on Thursday in the semis. This will be the third time since July that the two teams have faced off with Team USA winning both the exhibition in Abu Dhabi, and their opening meeting of Olympic pool play.
