Romanian gymnast Sabrina Voinea is taking a stand. After being denied a chance to win a bronze medal in the gymnastics floor final on Monday, the 17-year-old has decided to take drastic measures to send her message across.

According to a statement released by the official Olympic committee of Romania, Voinea has decided to quit gymnastics completely after her appeal to have her final score overturned was denied by the judges. This comes amid the same set of judges approving an appeal from U.S. gymnast Jordan Chiles' camp, allowing the American to finish with the bronze medal in the floor final.

In an official statement that was posted on Facebook on Tuesday, Team Romania announced that Mihai Covaliu, the president of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee, had sent a letter of protest directly to the president of the Gymnastics Federation, Morinari Watanabe, to contest the decision on Voinea's initial appeal.

In the same press release, it was revealed that Voenia had made a "public declaration to give up practicing this sport as a result of today's decision."

In a separate Facebook post, Sabrina's mother, Camelia Voinea, who herself is an Olympic silver medalist in gymnastics, also announced that her daughter will no longer compete in the sport moving forward.

“Sabrina didn’t land a single acrobatic line, they’re all here, she deserved a medal," Camelia wrote, as translated by ChatGPT. "Today, we stopped gymnastics here because no one is fighting for our rights! We love all of you who have supported us infinitely ❤️ We could only endure so much!”

For her part, Sabrina herself called out Chiles shortly after the competition declaring, "I had a much better exercise than her."

Voinea and pretty much the entire country of Romania will now be looking to see what type of action, if any, the Olympic Committee will take over this massive controversy.
