‘I try to get through without cursing,’ fumes Walmart shopper forced to use self-checkout – 2nd issue made it impossible

A WALMART shopper opened up about their frustrations after being forced to use the retail giant’s self-checkout.

During the shopping trip, the customer encountered a second issue that sent him over the edge.

One Walmart shopper responded to an X post that read, “I have a dream… that one day I will wake up and scroll through the news and not utter F once. Pray for me.”

The X user shared their feelings about using the self-checkout line at the retail giant.

“I try to get through the store self check out without cursing,” said one. Frys I can do sometimes,” the Walmart shopper wrote on X .

The customer then encountered a second issue, adding coal to the fire of their initial feelings about Walmart.

“Walmart’s bags stick together, and I end up tossing a few of the f**kers on the floor trying to find one that will open while cursing somewhat under my breath.”

Retailers have been coming under fire for their self-checkout lines.

Walmart has recently implemented a 15-item or less policy at self-checkout kiosks at select stores.

While it hasn’t hit stores nationwide, customers are already frustrated with the changes.

“Dundalk Walmart is so f***ing sh**ty bro,” one user posted on X .

“I have 23 items so I can’t use self checkout.

“So to them, it will be fast for me to wait in line behind 8 people who have 70 items in their carts.

“That makes sooo much sense. Why not just make self checkout maybe 35 items or less?”

Walmart responded by asking for further details on the shopper’s experience.

Walmart has only recently implemented the new express policy, whereas Target has been doing a 10-item or less self-checkout.

Latest self-checkout changes

Retailers are evolving their self-checkout strategy in an effort to speed up checkout times and reduce theft.

Walmart shoppers were shocked when self-checkout lanes at various locations were made available only for Walmart+ members.

Other customers reported that self-checkout was closed during specific hours, and more cashiers were offered instead.

While shoppers feared that shoplifting fueled the updates, a Walmart spokesperson revealed that store managers are simply experimenting with ways to improve checkout performance.

One bizarre experiment included an RFID-powered self-checkout kiosk that would stop the fiercely contested receipt checks.

However, that test run has been phased out.

At Target, items are being limited at self-checkout.

Last fall, the brand surveyed new express self-checkout lanes across 200 stores with 10 items or less for more convenience.

As of March 2024, this policy has been expanded across 2,000 stores in the US.

Shoppers have also spotted their local Walmart stores restricting customers to 15 items or less to use self-checkout machines.

Target shoppers have also expressed their anger while shopping at the department store.

One customer shared that they had to wait half an hour to check out after Target closed the self-checkout lanes.

“Target if you are going to close self-checkout then you need to have ample cashiers & baggers,” wrote Target shopper Maggie Martinez .

“Having to wait over 30 mins in line with 1 cashier, no bagger, is ridiculous!

“Especially when other employees are just standing around not helping!” she continued.

“Get it together!” she recommended to Target.
