Noah Lyles is already the fastest man in the world. Now, he's shooting for the sprint double — gold in the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints — at the 2024 Paris Olympics .

After achieving a gold medal in the 100-meter sprint, Lyles is participating in the 200-meter event this week. He advanced to the 200 semifinals by winning his heat in the first round on Monday.

The American sprinter is still seeking his first Olympic gold in the 200, Lyles' better race. He won the bronze in the event at the Tokyo Olympics, but he won three gold medals in the 200 at the 2019, 2022 and 2023 World Championships.

The 27-year-old also holds the fourth-fastest time ever in the 200, behind only Jamaican sprinters Usain Bolt (twice) and Yohan Blake.

Should Lyles win gold in the 200, he'll be the first American man to win the sprint double since Carl Lewis in 1984.
