Jeopardy! 'set for huge shake-up' that will change the show forever

Jeopardy! fans might have to get used to some big changes as producers are "keeping their options open" about who will host the show, according to a source.

Ken Jennings has hosted the show since 2021, becoming the sole host for season 40 following the departure of Mayim Bialik . However, with Colin Jost now announced as the host of Pop Culture Jeopardy!, one source believes Ken is at risk of being axed from the show.

"Of course Ken wants to do this for the next twenty years, but he's going to have to get comfortable with only being renewed one or two years at a time for the foreseeable future," the source said. "Sony is keeping him in the hosting job but they are also keeping their options open."

The source also suggested producers don't have "100% confidence" in Ken as he would have otherwise been chosen to host the primetime and celebrity editions of Jeopardy! Speaking to The US Sun , they added: "But Ken is still finding his groove on the syndicated version of the show and Sony is letting him become the de facto face of the franchise - for now."

However, the source said bosses at Sony Pictures TV are unlikely to fire Ken because of on-air mistakes. They explained: "It's not a live show; it's taped well in advance, and therefore, mistakes are just as much, if not more, the producer's and writers' responsibility as they are Ken's."

Instead, they suggested the only reason Ken would be replaced as Jeopardy! host is if ratings took a nosedive. Luckily for Ken, that hasn't happened yet, with the source saying the show is "holding steady."

The comments come after Ken secured an Emmy award nomination last month. Ken was nominated for Outstanding Game Show Host for his work on Jeopardy!.

The game show also received a nomination for Outstanding Game Show. The official Instagram Jeopardy! page shared a message of congratulations, writing: "137 total Emmy® nominations and counting. Congratulations to Ken Jennings and the entire production team, and thank you @televisionacad!"

Ken will be going up against Steve Harvey for Celebrity Family Feud, Keke Palmer for Password, Jane Lynch for Weakest Link, and Pat Sajak for Wheel Of Fortune.
