Groesbeck's National Night Out Thrills Community with Fun

The Groesbeck Police Department hosted a packed city park for National Night Out despite the heat reaching triple digits on Tuesday, Aug. 6, drawing residents to Groesbeck City Park for an evening of fun, community interaction, and thrilling attractions.
Attendees enjoyed a variety of exciting activities from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Ballistic carnival chair ride, Pirate’s Revenge swinging boat ride, and Face-to-Face Climbing Wall were popular choices. Adventurous participants scaled a 26-foot Rock Wall, slid down the 27-foot Cliffhanger inflatable slide, and raced on The Vortex Warp Wall.
Groesbeck Animal Control hosted adoptions and information on how to help the City’s Animal Shelter with a mix of pups and a kitten in attendance.
As well, Texas DPS, Oneok, Atmos, CASA, Neurothon and the Sheriff’s Office and many others were in attendance to support the event and help provide the community with information and freebies for all.
The dunk tank added to the excitement, featuring GISD Superintendent Anthony Figueroa and Enge-Washington Assistant Principal Julie Biezenski, who took turns getting dunked by eager participants. The city pool also provided a refreshing break from the heat with free swimming.
The food court offered a diverse selection of snacks, including pizza, hot dogs, popcorn, chips, snow cones, popsicles, chilled watermelon, pickles and more that was sponsored by local organizations and businesses. Beverage stations provided soda, water, and sweet tea to keep everyone hydrated and satisfied.
Groesbeck Police Chief Chris Henson expressed his gratitude for the community's support. “We appreciate the ongoing turnout and positive feedback from the community. While I can’t give an exact number, the attendance definitely increased this year,” Henson said. “The volunteers were a great support, it’s heartening to see such strong community support for this event. We had a lot of positive feedback and we hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did.”
National Night Out is an annual campaign aimed at strengthening police-community partnerships. This year’s event offered a perfect opportunity for residents to engage with officers from the Groesbeck Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.
