Reese Witherspoon and her family are mourning a major loss.
The Morning Show actress took to Instagram Stories on Tuesday, Aug. 6 to announce that one of her family pets, her dog Hank , had sadly passed away.
"We will miss your sweet spirit, Hank," the dog mom wrote over a picture of the pup in front of a welcome mat outside a door.
"Thank you for being the best family pet and the pack leader," she added alongside a pink heart and a dove emoji.
The Labrador had often appeared in photos with the actress on social media, making him a familiar face to fans.
Witherspoon's daughter, Ava Phillippe , also shared a heartfelt tribute to the deceased loved one, posting a black-and-white photo of the pooch alongside a sweet message.
"14 ½ years of pure love & constant tail wagging. The job was "family pet" & he excelled at it. Thanks Hanky for reminding us that every day is the best day ever. 🤍," she wrote.
In the comment section, followers poured in to send their condolences to the family amid the loss.
"I’m so sorry Ava ❤️ sending love, this kind of loss is the hardest. He’ll be with you and your family forever," one wrote, while another chimed in with, "So sorry for your loss. Dogs are angels on earth ❤️❤️❤️."
"The worst and the best. Sympathies!" a third added, as someone else included their own recent experience: "I just lost my dog too and it’s the worst feeling in the world. Sending you all so much love 💗💗💗."
Aside from the late Hank, the Legally Blonde star currently has three other dogs: American bulldog Lou , French bulldog Minnie Pearl and black Labrador Major .
