    R.I.P. Patti Yasutake: ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ And ‘Beef’ Actor Dead At 70

    Star Trek: The Next Generation and Beef alum Patti Yasutake died on Monday (Aug. 5) following a battle with cancer, Deadline reports. She was 70.

    Kyle Fritz, the late actress’ manager and friend, informed the outlet that Yasutake was surrounded by her loved ones. He also issued a statement to Variety , sharing that Yasutake “was [his] first client when [he] began over 30 years ago.”

    “We enjoyed every day we got to work together, and I will miss her spirit talent and tenacity but most of all her friendship,” he added.

    One of Yasutake’s most recent credits was Beef , the Emmy award-winning Netflix anthology series, in which she portrayed Fumi Nakai. Among her other TV cameos are Gung Ho , Mr. Belvedere , Judging Amy , Crossing Jordan , Bones , Cold Case , The Young and the Restless , The Closer , NCIS: Los Angeles , Pretty Little Liars and Notorious .

    Per Deadline and Variety , Yasutake took part in Gung Ho (1986 ), which marked her first major feature film. She would go on to appear in The Wash (1988) — which garnered her a nod at the Independent Spirit Award Awards — Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot (1992), Star Trek: Generations (1994), Star Trek: First Contact (1996), Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999 ), and more.

    Yasutake was born in Los Angeles, and ultimately attended UCLA, where she graduated with Honors in Theater, per Variety .

    According to Deadline, survivors include her two siblings, nieces and nephews, and colleagues and friends. The outlet reports that a memorial service will be held at East West Players on Sunday, Aug. 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. Instead of flowers, those interested may make a donation to East West Players.
