‘Colin from Accounts’ Season 2 Sets U.S. Premiere Date for Quirky Aussie Comedy on Paramount+

The wait is almost over, “Colin from Accounts” superfans. While the second season of the quirky Aussie comedy has already aired in Australia, U.S. fans have had to wait and wonder when they would get more of their cult favorite series. But Paramount+ has finally set a Season 2 premiere date in the U.S.

The second season aired in Australia on Foxtel, but the U.S. date for the “Colin” Season 2 premiere is Thursday, September 26, and the entire run of eight episodes will be available on Paramount+ all at once. ( The first season won two prizes at the Gotham Awards this past January.)

If you haven’t discovered this uniquely Australian comedic gem, you may not realize “Colin from Accounts,” the title character, refers to not a human but a dog. A quirky series of events is set in emotion when Ashley (Harriet Dyer) randomly flashes a guy, Gordon (Patrick Brammall), who’s driving. He’s distracted, and he runs over a dog. The dog survives but needs major care and rehab, which brings Ashley and Gordon together to be his caretakers. They call the pooch Colin from Accounts. And of course, a romance is born. The couple that grievously wounds a dog stays together, apparently.

Dyer and Brammall, who are married in real life, joined IndieWire for our Consider This Event with Paramount+ in June , in a conversation moderated by Alison Foreman. They feared that they might not be the right choice to play the central characters when they were first writing it (they are the creators of the show, and its writers), but thankfully, they were ultimately convinced they should play Ash and Gordon themselves.

“Because we are both actors primarily, we are really good at fighting for our characters and advocating for them in the writing process,” Dyer told IndieWire. “So they both get an even shot at it. In an argument, you leave that scene and you’re like, ‘God, they both nailed that.’ They might not be perfect, but they both got to say what they wanted to say because we are literally writing it.”

Brammall added that the show, while not Australian in nature, needed to be set in the country and the tone they knew best.

“We actually live [in California] and we had the idea here and we wrote it here,” Brammall said. “Some people were like, ‘Well, why don’t you just do it here? It’s not a very Australian idea.’ And we thought about that and actually thought, ‘No, look, we could do that but we’d be approximating the characters.’ Whereas we really deeply understand Australians and how they talk and how strange they are.”

“Your weird aunties are different to our weird aunties,” Dyer said. “So to write the kind of characters that are around these two, we had a better shot making them Aussies.”

Returning for season two of “Colin from Accounts” are Emma Harvie, Genevieve Hegney, Michael Logo, Helen Thomson, Darren Gilshenan, Annie Maynard, Tai Hara, and Glenn Hazeldine, along with new cast members Celeste Barber, Virginia Gay, Justin Rosniak, John Howard, Lynne Porteus, and Broden Kelly.
