Team USA Advances, Canada Eliminated from Olympics

The 2024 Paris Olympics began bracket play on Tuesday. The quest for Gold is on, and the United States getting a victory, but one country with former Wildcats were eliminated. On Tuesday, Canada fell to France in the Quarterfinals of the Olympics. Canada features former Wildcats Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jamal Murray, and Trey Lyles. They unfortunately fell short to France, but the United States is still rolling on.

In Team USA's win, it was former Wildcat Devin Booker who led the team in scoring on the night with 18 points. He shot 6-9 overall and 5-7 from three-point range, adding 3 rebounds and 3 assists. As for the other former Wildcats, Anthony Davis had 13 points on 5-9 shooting, as well as 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and a block. Bam Adebayo put up 9 points, 7 rebounds, an assist, and a steal. The United States is obviously a team with a lot of depth, and anyone can have a great game on any given night, and it was Devin Booker's night on Tuesday.

Then, there was Canada's tough loss to France, which eliminated them from the Olympics. Despite the loss, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander did his thing, putting up 27 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal, and a block. He shot 9-19 overall and 1-4 from deep, but was impressive at the free-throw line, going 8-11 from there. Jamal Murray came off the bench on Tuesday, and he put up 7 points, 5 rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

The United States will continue for run for a Gold medal in their next matchup, which is on Thursday against Serbia. Unfortunately for Canada, they will be heading back home after the loss to France.
