Major Falcons Player Suffers Potential Season-Ending Injury During Practice

The Atlanta Falcons had quite the active offseason. Once free agency opened, the Falcons went on a shopping spree, with their biggest acquisition being former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins. They then started building around him.

Not long after, they signed former Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney. In a surprising move, Atlanta traded their starting quarterback from last season, Desmond Ridder, to the Arizona Cardinals for wide receiver Rondale Moore.

Moore's status with the Falcons for the 2024 season is now up in the air.

During Wednesday's practice between the Falcons and Miami Dolphins, Moore was carted off the field after suffering a "non-contact and knee-related" injury, according to Josh Kendall of The Athletic. Moore was seen wearing an inflatable cast on his right leg as he was taken off in an ambulance to a nearby hospital. Practice was immediately canceled.

While it's too early to confirm the worst, football fans have pieced together what the pending result of Moore's injury will be. Most non-contact knee injuries involve an ACL tear, which would abruptly withdraw Moore from the 2024 season.

Moore was set to be a major part of what is a much revamped Falcons offense this season. He was an added skill position player, joining Bijan Robinson, Tyler Allgeier, Drake London, Kyle Pitts, and Mooney. This could now be a potential major damper to the Falcons' season.

The Falcons and Dolphins will meet at Hard Rock Stadium for their first preseason game on Friday, Aug. 9 at 7:00 EDT.
