A HOMEOWNER has discovered three $1 bills inside his walls while renovating.
Although two of them aren’t worth much, a currency expert revealed the third bill is worth $355 due to its rainbow design.
Currency expert Eric Miller determined the value of three bills found inside someone’s walls Tiktok/thecoinchannel The three $1 bills were worth varying amounts Tiktok/thecoinchannel
He shared an image of three bills, arranged from what appeared to be the oldest at the top to the newest at the bottom.
A homeowner had found the paper money inside his walls while renovating and suspected the bill on top could be worth something because of how old it looked.
“Can you just imagine remodeling your home and finding money like this?” said Miller. “This person found these in one of his walls in his house.”
“Let’s go over all three of them and see if they’re valuable.”
Miller first looked at the $1 bill on the bottom, which he noted was “just a regular dollar.”
He moved on to the note in the middle, which he said was a silver certificate from 1957.
The expert said the blue seals on the bill gave it away.
Miller shared that the silver certificates are worth around $5 but can be more valuable depending on their condition.
Uncirculated certificates without rips, folds, or tears sell for at least $20.
COLORFUL CASH
“Now let’s get into the best find of the bunch,” said Miller of the bill on top, calling it “a piece of history.”
He shared that it was a $1 bill from 1869.
The currency expert pointed out the “rainbow-colored” design of the note, which featured red, yellow, green, and blue hues.
He said the bill was also known as a “Rainbow Note.”
Bill Errors
These errors on bills could significantly boost their value:
Misaligned Overprint: The bill’s seal and serial numbers are printed outside their intended area, sometimes overlapping with other features.
Mismatched Serial Numbers: The bill’s serial numbers on the left and right sides do not match.
Overly Inked Design: The bill’s design is overly dark due to too much ink being printed.
Blank Reverse: One side of the bill is completely blank because the sheet wasn’t flipped during the printing process.
