As reported by our sister site Deadline , Bassett and Vance are executive-producing with producing partner Lynette Ramirez and writer Pilar Golden ( God Friended Me , Beyond Black Beauty ) a drama titled Keats , which follows a fourth-generation police officer named Alex who, years after walking away from the job and her family, returns to Philadelphia for her mother’s funeral.
There, Alex comes to suspect that the death of her mother, a decorated officer, by suicide was something else altogether, and as she digs into the case, it leads her back toward her family on the police force.

In front of the camera, Bassett of course stars on ABC’s 9-1-1 , which returns for Season 8 on Thursday, Sept. 26, while Vance can be seen on the former AMC series 61st Street , which is currently airing its second season Mondays on The CW. Vance also will be seen in the FX/Ryan Murphy series Grotesquerie , which stars fellow Emmy winner Niecy Nash-Betts ( Monster ), Lesley Manville ( Phantom Thread ) and… NFL player Travis Kelce.
