Trump VP Pick Laughs Loudly When Reporter Asks Him About Being Joyless And ‘Angry’: ‘What Makes You SMILE?’

A reporter drew vehement laughter from Trump VP pick Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) when he referenced criticism that Vance is too serious and is “angry” and asked him, “What makes you SMILE?”

VP Kamala Harris held her first rally with Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) hours after news broke that Walz — who popularized calling Trump and Vance “weird” — would be the VP nominee. One theme of that rally was summed up by Walz when he thanked the VP for “bringing back the joy.”

The 2024 Republican vice presidential candidate spoke to reporters before a campaign rally in Shelby Township, Michigan on Wednesday morning, one of whom referenced unattributed criticism of Vance as unsmiling and angry.

In response, Vance laughed loudly at the suggestion and called it “bogus” as he smiled his way through the answer:

REPORTER: Little bit different here. You have been criticized as being a little too serious, a little angry sometimes. What makes you smile? What makes you happy?

SEN. JD VANCE: Well, I smile at a lot of things, including bogus questions from the media, Dan. A-HAHA-Heh-heh.

I mean, look, I think if you watch, if you watch a full speech that I give, I actually, I’m having a good time out here, and I’m enjoying this.

But, look, sometimes you got to take the good with the bad. And right now, I am angry about what Kamala Harris has done to this country and done to the American southern border.

And I think that most people in our country, they can be happy go lucky sometimes, they can enjoy things sometimes, and they can turn on the news and recognize that what’s going on in this country is a disgrace.

And if what Kamala Harris has done at the southern border, and if what Kamala Harris has done to raise the price of groceries and housing, if that doesn’t bother you, then I think you don’t have a pulse. Right?

And so, look, I think my message to the American people is, is very simple on this, that President Trump in particular has the best sense of humor of anybody I’ve ever seen in American politics.

He loves to joke. He loves to tell you know listen he’ll make fun of everybody that’s out there. And I think he got to do that from time to time. But he’s also a guy who’s very frustrated with what Kamala Harris has done to this country.

Both of those things can be true, and I think most Americans can joke around, but also be pissed off about the direction of this country. Thank you sir.
