Lauren Alaina suffered a tragic loss July 23 when her dad, J.J. Suddeth, passed away. The American Idol runner-up announced on social media that she was canceling two planned appearances along Jason Aldean’s Highway Desperado tour. “I really don’t have words yet,” Alaina wrote on Instagram. Now, she appears to have found them. The “Next Boyfriend” singer has broken her silence with a heartfelt social media post that thanks both Jason and Brittany Aldean.

Wynonna Judd, Carly Pearce, and More Offer Condolences

Lauren Alaina posted a carousel of pictures to her Instagram page Tuesday (Aug. 6), leading with one of herself with Jason Aldean.

“Thank you,” wrote the Georgia native, born Lauren Suddeth. “I can’t think of much else to say right now other than thank you. Thank you to everyone who has checked on me and continued to show up for me.”

The Grand Ole Opry member went on to personally thank the “Big Green Tractor” singer and his wife, Brittany, “for treating me like family.”

The former NBA dancer responded in the comments. “We love you forever and always, laur,” wrote Brittany Aldean, following with four heart emojis.

Country legend Wynonna Judd also offered condolences, writing, “I’m a call or text away, dear one.” Below, GRAMMY winner Carly Pearce wrote simply, “I love you.”

Alaina will rejoin Aldean Thursday (Aug. 8) at Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.

Lauren Alaina’s Dad Was Often Her Muse

Lauren Alaina had a close relationship with her father that often sneaked into her songwriting. The American Idol season 10 runner-up revealed in 2017 that “Doin’ Fine” was inspired by her parents’ divorce and her father’s struggle with alcoholism.

In an interview with Parade, Alaina called the split “a blessing in disguise.” “[My] dad is sober and happy and a great man now and has grown so much because Mom asked for that divorce,” she said.

When Alaina, 29, married longtime boyfriend Cam Arnold, she wrote the song “My Old Man” specifically for the daddy-daughter dance.

I knew I found the one when they became best friends / My good ole boy and My Old Man, Alaina sang in the special tribute.
