Polite Shar-Pei Mix Greets His Sister With a Kiss Every Day After Her Walk

When we get home, we usually greet everyone, right? They want to know that we got home safe, and we want them to know we missed them while we were away. Depending on the person, you may even greet them with a kiss!

There's no difference between dogs and humans there, as it turns out. On Tuesday, August 6th, a Shar-Pei mix was waiting patiently by the door for the lady of the house to arrive back home just so he could give her a little kiss. She loved it just as much:

Life with Lady (and her bestie, Gus) must be so full of fun. He obviously knows a little something about respecting his elders!

Lady is the older sister of the house: she's a Staffy mix, while Gus is still just a spring chicken, and he's a Shar-Pei mix. Both pups were rescues, and ever since they met, they've adored each other. There is nothing more precious than their relationship - especially when you consider the way that he waits for her to come home so he can give her a kiss every day. He likes her much more than most human sibling pairs!

Gus is pretty new to the family, too, so Lady has served many purposes, the most important of which is teaching him how to play. He's still a little awkward, but she's really helping to get him out of his shell!

Shar-Peis Can Be a Little Awkward

One of Gus's main "flaws," allegedly, is that he's a little awkward, which they chalk up to him being a rescue more than anything. While that's certainly part of it, since many rescues were never really taught how to play or they were too anxious to play in the shelter, it could also be due to his breed. Shar-Peis were originally bred to be guardians, and they're naturally a little wary around people and animals they don't know.

If they're raised with other dogs and trained well, they're typically just fine, though! The main problem people find is that they have a tendency to resource guard and will bite if they feel like you're intruding. However, proper bite inhibition training and management mitigates this problem pretty easily.

They're not positive what all Gus is mixed with, but he's decently outgoing, and even better, always ready and willing to learn. He's got the best teacher and he knows it: that's why he gives Lady so many kisses!
