A WALMART shopper is slamming the retailer for "out of control" customer service policies.

The shopper blasted the retailer for failing to adequately staff stores and forcing shoppers to line up at the self-checkout.

"Walmart is complete garbage..no cashier's and 30 ppl in line for self checkout...this place is worthless..." the shopper wrote in a post to Facebook.

They included photo evidence of multiple shoppers waiting in line with their carts.

"Target was like that yesterday as well," one comment read.

Walmart has previously said that self-checkout machines are "designed to help customers complete their shopping even faster."

"As customers continue to change the way they shop, we’ll keep looking for new ways to offer choice while saving you time and money," Walmart's website reads.

Walmart limits self-checkout lanes to 15 items or less to keep these lines moving quickly.

However, many customers have still had to wait in long lines and struggle with self-checkout machines.

The shopper isn't alone in their frustrations with the lack of staffing at major retailers.

    'HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE'

Another Maryland shopper shared their poor Walmart experience after their location closed several self-checkout lanes.

"@Walmart horrible experience at the Cockeysville MD store 8/3," he wrote.

"Both self checkout Corrales, half the checkouts closed."

They added that they believed it was purposeful to prevent theft.

"Open more lanes or deal with it. My time is valuable too," he added.

"You have smart people working for you, so figure it out before we all walk to another store," they threatened

    Latest self-checkout changes

Retailers are evolving their self-checkout strategy in an effort to speed up checkout times and reduce theft.

Walmart shoppers were shocked when self-checkout lanes at various locations were made available only for Walmart+ members.

Other customers reported that self-checkout was closed during specific hours, and more cashiers were offered instead.

While shoppers feared that shoplifting fueled the updates, a Walmart spokesperson revealed that store managers are simply experimenting with ways to improve checkout performance.

One bizarre experiment included an RFID-powered self-checkout kiosk that would stop the fiercely contested receipt checks.

However, that test run has been phased out.

At Target, items are being limited at self-checkout.

Last fall, the brand surveyed new express self-checkout lanes across 200 stores with 10 items or less for more convenience.

As of March 2024, this policy has been expanded across 2,000 stores in the US.

Shoppers have also spotted their local Walmart stores restricting customers to 15 items or less to use self-checkout machines.

A third Walmart shopper was left raging after they tried "to get through the self checkout without cursing."

To make matters worse, their bags stuck together delaying their checkout experience further.

"Walmart's bags stick together, and I end up tossing a few of the f**kers on the floor trying to find one that will open while cursing somewhat under my breath," they added.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Walmart for comment but did not immediately hear back.
