Buono's Pizza Set to Open First New Pizzeria in 35 Years

There’s a saying that there’s no such thing as bad pizza. While there might not be such a thing as a bad pizza, there are some that are superior to others. One of the best ways to find a quality slice of ‘za is to check out how long the pizza restaurant has been serving the public. When you find a spot that has been leaving customers satisfied for decades you know there’s something magical taking place. Whether it’s the homemade sauce, the perfectly baked crust, or the quality ingredients, when customers find an excellent pizza, they will keep going back for more. For one local Gilbert pizzeria, after more than thirty years, a second restaurant is set to open. 

Buono’s opened its original 1464 East Williams Field Road (Suite 108) pizza restaurant in Gilbert back in 1989. At the time you could have grabbed a slice of New York or New Jersey-style pizza after catching the Michael Keaton Batman movie (and talked about how much you’d love to have the Batmobile). A lot has changed since the original opening. In that time, Buono’s Pizza has continued to leave customers happy. And now, in an attempt to make it easier for Gilbert residents to grab a slice of their favorite pie, a second location is set to open in the coming days. 

Buono’s Pizza announced on its Instagram page that the all-new restaurant is set to open this coming Monday, August 12th, at 11 AM. Guests will be able to order full pizzas as well as pizza by the slice. This makes it the perfect lunch break for anyone craving pizza but who doesn’t want to sit and wait for an entire pizza to come fresh out of the oven. 

Located at 1652 North Higley Road (Unite 103), it is on the Northwest corner of the Higley and Baseline intersection. Official hours of operation have not yet been announced yet, although opening day hours are from 11 AM until 8 PM. 

When visiting the pizza restaurant you can start off with the kind of pizza you want, and then build it up with your toppings of choice. Three main styles include Napolitana, White, and Siciliana. Specialty pizzas include Grandma Pie (Long Island rectangular style, topped with mozzarella, garlic, finished with tomato sauce on top, basil puree, and parmesan), Meat Lover (Neapolitan-style, topped with tomato sauce, pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, bacon, mozzarella, and oregano), and Baked Ziti (Neapolitan-style, tommed with tomato sauce, ricotta, ziti pasta, mozzarella, and oregano).
