Singer Rod Stewart announced on Wednesday that he would be canceling his 200th Las Vegas residency show and the last of the residency's original run.

The singer has been performing a residency at Caesars Palace, which was just recently extended into 2025. He shared the news of his inability to perform on X, formally known as Twitter.

"I'm desperately sorry to miss this 200th show celebration," he wrote, "Most people can work with strep throat but obviously not me."

He continued: "I'm absolutely gutted. I've been looking forward to this concert for so long. My deepest regrets for any inconvenience this has caused.

"Thankfully we'll now be returning in 2025 and I hope to see you all there," he added his signature to the note and added a broken heart emoji.

The Maggie May singer's Las Vegas residency first started in August 2011 and was originally slated to run for two years. Now 13 years later, Rod is still performing at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

Rod has grossed over $53million from his shows, and shared on Instagram that he was "having too much fun for this to end" so he will continue performing into 2025. This was set to be his last show of the year.

In his Instagram post, Rod titled this residency "The Encore Shows," while his original run was titled "Rod Stewart: The Hits." His post also included information on when he'll return to Sin City and how fans can get tickets.

"Don’t miss The Encore Shows Las Vegas Residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace March 12-22 & May 29-June 8! Tickets on sale Monday at 10amPT," he captioned a video montage of him performing in Vegas.

Rod was recently in the news for mocking former American president Donald Trump. In a recent show, the singer stood on stage in front of a projection of a meme that showed four pictures of Trump and his complexion going from white to orange.

The meme was captioned: "I didn't know he was orange until a number of years ago, when he happened to turn orange. I respect either one, but he obviously doesn't and now he wants to be known as Orange. All of a sudden he made a turn and became an Orange person. I think someone should look into that."

Some fans applauded Rod for poking fun at the 2024 Republican candidate, while others shamed him. One fan excitedly wrote on social media: "This is savage and I’m so proud of you," while another chastised: "People in the entertainment industry should keep their opinions to themselves."
