PHOTOS: 2024 Illinois State Fair Butter Cow unveiled

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — The Illinois State Fair 2024 butter cow has been officially unveiled.

This is the 103rd butter cow at the state fair, and the eighth consecutive butter cow designed and sculpted by Sarah Pratt.

“The butter cow is absolutely iconic in the state of Illinois,” Illinois Department of Agriculture director Jerry Costello II said.

This year, the cow is accompanied by a young magician pulling out ice cream out of a hat to fit the State Fair theme: “It’s Showtime!”

The butter cow can be found on the Fairgrounds in the Dairy Building.

“Everything that I love is right in this building: the butter cow and ice cream,” Lieutenant Governor Julianna Stratton said.
