The ongoing speculation about San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and his potential trade destination continued on Wednesday, with fans growing anxious over his potential trade from the defending NFC Champions.

On Tuesday night, the New England Patriots announced that they are no longer in the bidding for the talented WR, but a couple of other teams — notably the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, and Washington Commanders — are trying to get a deal done.

On Wednesday morning, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin made some waves by touching on the topic. When asked on 102.5 WDVE about the potential trade, and whether or not he had any interesting phone calls on Wednesday morning, Tomlin didn't directly say the answer was no.

“It’s a little early on the west side right now, so probably not," Tomlin said.

Later when talking to media members at the Steelers' facility, Tomlin was asked about the potential trade for Aiyuk once again.

"I'll let you guys speculate on that," Tomlin said with a suspicious smile.

The Steelers have a strong young core of pass-catchers on the roster led by George Pickens and Diontae Johnson, but adding a proven playmaker like Aiyuk would be a major development for the unsettled QB room.

At the moment, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields are battling it out for the QB1 spot, so whoever ends up as the starter would surely be happy with the prospect of throwing to Aiyuk.
