Popcorn bars

With school starting every parent is looking for ideas to have for your child's lunchbox or to have when they come through the door this is an easy recipe to make and it's not expensive. It's a lot cheaper than buying the bars in the store. This is a yummy popcorn recipe. You can press them into a casserole or make them into balls. I have a air popcorn maker. They run about $22.00 and a lot cheaper than buying the bags of popcorn. You children will like helping If you make them into balls. Spray their hands with cooking oil so the popcorn doesn't stick to their hands.

Ingredients:

10 cups of popped popcorn

1/2 cup of sugar

1/2 cup of light corn syrup

1/2 cup of peanut butter

1/2 teaspoon of vanilla

Ready to make?

Please, the popcorn and a large bowl set aside in a sauce, pan over medium heat, bring sugar and corn syrup to a boil, stirring constantly for approximately one minute. Remove this from the heat and set aside. No stir in your peanut butter and vanilla and mix it well. Pour the mixture over your popcorn and stir until everything is well coded. You can press it into a buttered 13 x 9 pan. Allow it to cool slightly before cutting.

You can also add chocolate to the recipe with no peanut butter or light syrup. I would recommend a bag of chips. My family likes the white chocolate.

If you're trying to cut back on the sugar, you can use natural peanut butter for this recipe also.

If you make them with peanut butter, they will be less crunchy.
