Colin Jost's Olympics Job Comes to an End After Sustaining Several Injuries

After suffering a number of injuries during his time in Tahiti covering surfing for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Colin Jost 's time as a correspondent for the games has come to an end.

According to Deadline , Jost officially left his position, with Australian weatherman Luke Bradnam taking his place. Jost was on the ground in the tropical location to share his unique perspective on the surfing competition, but unfortunately, he found himself in a little trouble while there.

Shortly after arriving in Tahiti, Jost received several cuts on his foot from a coral reef, sharing a photo and writing, "This might ruin my WikiFeet score but I just arrived in Tahiti for the surfing Olympics and the reef was excited to greet me."

The Saturday Night Live star later shared an updated snap of his foot all bandaged up and joked, "You know it’s going great when you’ve been to the Olympic medical tent more than any of the athletes."

By Tuesday, July 30, Jost reported that he had gotten a staph infection from the reef incident, and just that morning, he added an ear infection to the list, telling NBC Olympics grandmaster Mike Tirico , "My new goal is to have as many infections as there are Olympic events.”

Luckily, he seemed in good spirits as he lounged in the pool in a chair, saying, "You see, the doctor told me that I can't get my foot wet because of the coral reef infection, and I can't get my head wet because of the inner ear infection. But to me, that doesn't mean that my torso and waist can't still enjoy the pool."

While Jost appeared to have a good time in Tahiti even after his injuries, he has allegedly left his position as a correspondent there. Deadline noted that Jost's Tahiti correspondence was reportedly supposed to be a short-term position from the start, although it's unclear if he will head to Paris for the end of the games or not.
