WATCH: Alabama freshman Ryan Williams makes unreal one-handed catch

Since Nick Saban took the job at Alabama , the Crimson Tide has trotted out a few generational wide receivers. Julio Jones led the way while Amari Cooper and Calvin Ridley followed.

Jaylen Waddle and Jerry Jeudy kept the train moving while Devonta Smith and Jameson Williams rounded out Saban's wide receiver machine.

Looking ahead to the 2024 season, one of Saban's most renowned positions, wide receiver, is under extreme pressure after losing the team's top pass catchers.

Head coach Kalen DeBoer and his wide receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard have done their work with wide receivers as three Huskies were drafted this past April.

DeBoer and his staff are beginning to learn about their next star wide out in former five-star freshman Ryan Williams who elevated in the end zone during practice to make this highlight reel catch.

In a five-star versus five-star matchup, the summer enrollee came out on top as sophomore Dylan Lonergan threw it up and Williams did the rest.

Williams and fellow freshman pass catcher Caleb Odom have been pushing for first-team reps during fall camp and both could be well on their way to seeing meaningful snaps this fall.

Freshman corner Zabien Brown, who was defending Williams in that video, has been making strides of his own and looks to be in serious contention for the starting cornerback job alongside Domani Jackson.

For a majority of freshman, playing significant snaps early on in their career isn't always fruitful but as seen last year with true freshmen tackle Kadyn Proctor and safety Caleb Downs it can also reap unbelievable rewards.

Williams may have won this fight against Brown in practice, but there are both setting themselves up to help the program win right away.
