College Football Power Unveils Plans After Devastating Injury News

While injuries are always a part of the game in football, a team is never truly prepared to lose a key player before the season even starts.

The Texas Longhorns are unfortunately dealing with this at the time, as star running back CJ Baxter will miss the entire season with a knee injury. The former five-star recruit out of Florida went down with an LCL/PCL injury during a recent practice. His absence just forced Texas to go from having one of the most dynamic running back duos in all of college football with him and Jaydon Blue, to now forcing Texas to have to possibly move someone from a different position.

When speaking to the media on Thursday, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian revealed what exactly is next for the Longhorns at running back.

According to CJ Vogel of On Texas Football , the Longhorns will have to "reassess" the roster after this weekend's scrimmage, and may make an addition to the running back room. What this entails exactly is unknown, but the Longhorns certainly have some dynamic athletes on offense who may be asked to move from receiver to running back for the betterment of the team. In the meantime, this gives sophomore running back Tre Wisner a chance to really make some noise with the reps that will be available.

Sarkisian did praise Wisner on Thursday, calling him a "baller."

In terms of injury at the running back position, it's something that Texas is no stranger to either. Jordan Whittington began his career as a running back due to depth issues, and former quarterback Roschon Johnson ended up transitioning to running back for the same reason.
