Around this time last year, Kenny Pickett was the talk of Pittsburgh Steelers training camp.

The belle of the ball in the preseason, what Pickett and the rest of the offense showed ahead of the regular season never translated, and the rest was a messy history that sent him to the Philadelphia Eagles.

So whether he meant it or not, when talking about his ability to play the position, QB Russell Wilson took a shot at Pickett:

    Big Hands Huh

"I think when God gives you a gift to throw a ball, and he gave me big hands to throw it..." Said Wilson when asked about some of his physical traits.

Now in case you were unfamiliar with the Steelers' former signal caller, Kenny Pickett had notoriously small hands for an NFL QB, measured at 8.5 inches, the smallest of any QB in the NFL when he was drafted.

In reviewing records from the combine since it moved to Indianapolis in 1987, Jeff Blake, Michael Vick and Kliff Kingsbury had their hands measured at 8½ inches at the combine. On the other side of the debate, the biggest hands among current quarterbacks belong to the Seattle Seahawks' Russell Wilson (10¼ inches), followed by the Green Bay Packers' Aaron Rodgers (10⅛) and Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen (10⅛).

The average hand size for the 39 quarterbacks taken in the first round from 2008 to 2020 is 9 7/10 inches, according to ESPN Stats & Information data. The signal-caller with the largest hands of that group was Mark Sanchez in 2009 (10½), while the smallest among that group is 9 inches for Burrow, Ryan Tannehill and Jared Goff.

There are certain measurables that every position has, many of which are viewed as non-negotiable. Some teams won't draft WRs that run slower than 4.55 in the 40-yard dash. Others won't draft offensive tackles with arms shorter than 33 inches.

But very rarely do teams draft QBs with small hands, if for turnover reasons if nothing else.

And one thing we know about Russell Wilson is that he won't turn the ball over. It's likely a big part of the reason why Russell Wilson has maintained his pole position all offseason despite having yet to practice in full capacity, earning the starting role on Pittsburgh's initial depth chart .

We'll see if Justin Fields can try and change that.

Who the fuck are you to criticize another person let alone another player who happened to do his best. How about how you performed last year. Your washed up yet one of your brothers gave you another shot.Big mistake by him. Won't be long maybe even before the real season starts that your ass is on the bench, big shot.Another example of a player outliving his usefulness.See ya player
