    Pedestrian ran in front of truck, suffered ‘serious injuries’

    Maricopa police today released new information about a crash late last night that sent a pedestrian to the hospital .

    Police and fire crews responded to the crash on West Smith-Enke Road, just east of Santa Cruz Drive, just before 11 p.m., according to Phoenix Regional Dispatch .

    “A pickup truck driver reported seeing a woman on the side of the road as he drove west on Smith-Enke and began to slow down,” Maricopa Police Department spokesperson Monica Williams told InMaricopa .

    “Unexpectedly, the woman attempted to run across the road in front of the truck and the driver was unable to stop,” she added.

    The woman suffered “serious injuries” and was transported to a valley hospital for treatment.

    The pickup truck driver remained on the scene and assisted police in their investigation and was not cited.
