Henry Cavill reportedly was so invested in nailing his cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine , that he made himself sick. Director Shawn Levy revealed that the actor's stomach was affected after he was smoking a cigar for hours while filming on the Marvel movie's set.

Levy appeared on the Happy Sad Confused and talked about a sequence in the film that follows as Ryan Reynolds ’ Deadpool character is traveling through the multiverse attempting to find the perfect Wolverine. He comes across different Wolverine variants, and one of them is played by the former Superman actor. The filmmaker previously spoke to The New York Times about putting the actor in the highly-anticipated movie.

"In the case of Henry, it was not long after everything went down with DC and word came that Henry was being replaced as Superman. Given that Deadpool is in constant conversation with culture, it felt like a great opportunity to first of all cast Henry Cavill in a part that he would kick a-- at, but also to poke fun at that other comic-book-founded movie studio and play with some self-awareness there," he shared.

Henry had to smoke Wolverine’s cigar all day on set while he was filming his scene. Doing so affected the actor's stomach, due to the constant smoke inhalation. Shawn was impressed by how well Henry played the role, enough to make him consider what he would do with the character if he were to ever replace Hugh Jackman .

"I think we all were, including poor Henry Cavill, who not only had that pumped-up muscular body but kept that cigar lit and in his mouth for the entirety of the shoot day," he shared. "I remember hearing the next day that Henry was sick to his stomach because he had been inhaling cigar smoke for eight hours straight, but never once did he waver."

Deadpool & Wolverine has crossed the $900 million global box office mark and is expected to cross the $1 billion mark soon.
