Travis Kelce Reportedly Wanted To Leave Chiefs Training Camp To Be With Taylor Swift After Vienna Concerts Canceled Due To Terrorist Plot

The shocking announcement was made yesterday that Taylor Swift’s upcoming Eras Tour concerts in Vienna, Austria were cancelled after authorities discovered an Islamic terrorist plot targeting the shows.

Taylor had been scheduled to perform three shows at Ernst-Happel-Stadion starting today through August 10. But yesterday, it was announced that the shows were called off due to “confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack.”

So far, two individuals with ties to ISIS have been arrested, including a 17-year old and a 19-year old. The 17-year old had reportedly been hired to work security at the stadium days prior to the scheduled concerts, and authorities found bomb-making materials and items related to Al Qaeda in his home.

It’s obviously a scary situation given incidents we’ve seen in the past, including the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting in Las Vegas in 2017 and the Manchester Arena bombing at an Ariana Grande concert earlier that year. But luckily, authorities were able to prevent this tragedy from happening – though they didn’t feel confident enough to allow the concerts to go forward.

Taylor hasn’t directly addressed the situation herself, but a source speaking to The Sun reported that her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, wanted to fly to Austria to be with her during this scary time.

Kelce is, of course, in training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs right now, but according to the report he offered to join Taylor to comfort her after the cancellations – though Taylor ended up convincing him to stay put in the US:

“He even suggested flying to Austria to be there for her if she wanted him to do so, even if it was for a day or two, but Taylor is going to keep working and focus on the next dates, with the London concert, to wrap up the Euro part in the best way.”

The source says that while he couldn’t be with her in person, Kelce and Swift spent “long hours” on the phone together after the news of the cancellations broke – and that it was a relief to Travis that the concerts were called off after the terror threats were discovered:

“He has one of his phones always right next to him when he goes to sleep in case she needs to talk to him, and they did spend some long hours on the phone yesterday as it’s not a common situation to deal with, and he always wants to be Taylor’s rock and best fan and number one supporter whatever happens.

He was feeling relieved that the concerts got canceled, as it’s the best decision to be taken in this kind of context.”

All of this comes just days after Kelce attended Morgan Wallen’s concert at Arrowhead Stadium, which was delayed for 40 minutes after authorities discovered a threat to shoot Kelce and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes at the show that had been posted to social media.

Obviously Taylor and Travis are one of the most high-profile couples in the world, so it’s not surprising that crazy people will try to target them or their fans. But it’s just yet another sad reminder of the world that we’re living in these days.
