Introducing Mozzarella Onion Rings: a unique take on a beloved American classic dish that brings a delightful twist to the table. Whether served as a standout side or a savory main course, this innovative culinary creation promises to elevate any dining experience.

    Ingredients:

    2 large white onions

    8 slices of mozzarella cheese

    2 cups of flour

    5 eggs

    2 cups of bread crumbs

    Oil for frying

    Marinara sauce for dipping

To begin the onion preparation process, start by peeling the onions and cutting them into approximately 1/2-inch thick rings. Take care to delicately separate the rings once they are sliced.

Preparation of Cheese: Cut each piece of mozzarella into four strips to facilitate the process of inserting them into the rings.

To assemble the dish, carefully position a smaller onion ring inside a larger one and gently insert mozzarella strips in between. Ensure the cheese is placed securely within the rings. Repeat this process for all onion rings, then proceed to place them in the freezer for approximately an hour to allow them to solidify.

Instructions for the coating process: Prepare three bowls by arranging them in a row. The first bowl should contain flour, the second bowl should have beaten eggs, and the third bowl should be filled with bread crumbs.

Begin by coating each frozen onion ring in flour, then submerge it in a beaten egg, and lastly coat it with breadcrumbs. For an added crispy texture, repeat the process of dipping the onion ring in egg and breadcrumbs. Once done, freeze the onion rings once more.

To fry onion rings, begin by heating oil in a deep fryer or large, deep skillet on high heat. Cook the onion rings until they reach a golden brown hue, typically around 1 minute. It is important to avoid overcooking to prevent any cheese from leaking out.

To serve, carefully transfer the fried onion rings onto a paper towel-lined plate to remove any excess oil. Enjoy them fresh and hot alongside a side of marinara sauce for dipping.
