If it's about a long-term track record? Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams has a point.

If it's about success in 2024? The New York Jets hope the kid has a point.

Williams this week named his top two quarterbacks in the NFL as the No. 1 overall pick in the recent NFL Draft joined Kay Adams on the "Up & Adams Show'' and named his top two.

Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams is the runner-up.

And Aaron Rodgers? To the kid, he's the best quarterback in the league right now.

"Aaron Rodgers right now in the game is my No. 1 QB," Williams said .

That's lofty praise from Williams - and fodder for a barroom argument among fans who would sure tab Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes as that guy.

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen can be in the conversation. So can Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, along with others.

Having said that - and go ahead, argue away! - Williams is wise to show respect here.

Rodgers, of course, won Super Bowl XLV against the Pittsburgh Steelers way back in 2011. ... and now is trying to do it all over again with the Jets.

And USC product Williams? He will make his NFL regular-season debut for the Bears on September 8 against the Titans as he tries to build his own championship resume.
