Users of the popular mobile payment application, Cash App can now claim money from the service following a $15 million settlement. For those wondering how this is possible, Cash App was hit with a lawsuit by several customers who alleged that a security breach had taken place and the data of many users had been accessed without permission in 2022 and 2023. Thus, as a result of this 2021 lawsuit, Cash App has issued a settlement for all the users who were affected by this breach.

Here’s all you need to know about who is eligible for the Cash App settlement form and how they can claim the money.

How to submit Cash App settlement claim?

As per a report by CBS News, users can file for the cash app settlement claim through a short form.

The form is available on the mobile payment service’s website where users need to submit a notice ID and confirmation code to file the claim. Users have the facility to obtain these details from a mail. The deadline for the form is November 18, 2024.

Who is eligible for the Cash App settlement?

As per the details available on the website, anyone who was affected by “alleged unauthorized, and fraudulent withdrawals and transfers of funds, to or from” is eligible for the Cash App settlement. Apart from this, the site also states that affected users can “receive a Claimant Award for Settlement Benefits, including payment for Out-of-Pocket Losses, Lost Time or Transaction Losses from this Settlement” after filing for the claim.

As per the Cash App settlement lawsuit, users can receive up to $2,500 if they filed through out-of-pocket losses. In case of lost time of up to three hours, users can get $25 per hour. For claims through transaction losses users have to submit a police report copy.

Cash App on their site mentioned that they and their parent company Block Inc. deny the claims made in the lawsuit.
