NC State Newsstand: Grayson McCall named to Davey O’Brien Award Watch List

Another preseason watch list, another honor for NC State graduate quarterback Grayson McCall . The signal-caller’s latest recognition? The 2024 Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award Preseason Watch List.

McCall has been named to this watch list three times before, including making it to the semifinalists in each of his previous times at Coastal Carolina. McCall is the fourth NC State quarterback to make the preseason list, joining Mike Glennon , Ryan Finley and Devin Leary .

The award will be reduced to a 35-man Class of 2024, which McCall made in all three of his previous trips on the list.It will then be cut to a semifinalist subcategory on Nov. 12 before the three finalists are released Nov. 26. The winner will be announced during the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Dec. 12, televised live on ESPN.

In addition to this watch list honor, McCall has also been tabbed to the Maxwell Award, Walter Camp and Comeback Player of the Year watch lists this preseason.

The Indian Trail, N.C., native enters his final collegiate season with 10,005 passing yards, 88 career touchdown passes and just 14 interceptions.

NC State opens the 2024 season against Western Carolina on Aug. 29 at Carter-Finley Stadium. The game is set for 7 p.m. and it will be televised on ACC Network.
