President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to Maryland next Thursday for their first joint trip since Biden abandoned his campaign for re-election. In a brief statement announcing the visit, the White House said the pair plan to “discuss the progress they are making to lower costs for the American people.” It’s not yet clear exactly which locations they’ll be hitting on the trip. Since Biden dropped out of the presidential race on July 21, he and Harris have only made brief appearances together. They were both present at Joint Base Andrews last week to welcome the arrival of U.S. citizens who were released from custody in Russia as part of a prisoner swap deal with the Kremlin. They also both participated in a Situation Room meeting last week about developments in the Middle East amid Iran’s threats to punish Israel over the assassination of a top Hamas leader in Tehran.
