The starting lineups for the Indianapolis Colts will get playing time during the preseason opener against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

With just under a dozen training camp practices under their belt, the Colts have gotten a strong look at both sides of the ball.

However, head coach Shane Steichen told reporters Friday that the starting units will play a "series or two" during the opener. He mentioned a few starters will rest.

Steichen confirmed that quarterback Anthony Richardson will play.

The main attraction will be seeing the budding star Richardson in game action for the first time since his rookie season ended due to a shoulder injury.

The dual-threat quarterback has had a strong training camp thus far mixed with some growing pains, which is to be expected considering his development plan.

It will be interesting to see if other starters see a reduced workload. Running back Jonathan Taylor, for one, might only need a handful of reps during the preseason. Meanwhile, defensive tackle DeForest Buckner could get a veteran's rest day as well.

Though most of the starting roles are spoken for, there are still plenty of competitions that will be furthered by the preseason games.
