    Don't forget about Evan Williams.

Yes, the fourth-round pick that took some people by surprise when the Green Bay Packers selected him keeps finding himself around the ball and making plays.

When Williams was picked, in theory the Packers had two starting safeties in tow.

Xavier McKinney, the big free agent signing from the offseason was a shoo-in to start.

Typically, teams don't take players in the second round to sit on the bench either, so Javon Bullard figured to find his way to the starting lineup sooner than later.

While Matt LaFleur insists that job is not locked up as of yet, Bullard has started every team period since Monday's practice. He'll likely get the starting nod in Saturday's preseason opener as well.

Williams, meanwhile, has simply bided his time.

Williams was rotating in with second-year player Anthony Johnson Jr. and Bullard in a competition to start next to Xavier McKinney.

In an effort not to become a forgotten man, Williams continues to make plays on the ball.

There are times, that has nearly ended in disaster. Williams was part of an injury scare during the team's Family Night scrimmage.

Christian Watson and Williams were led to the ball, and collided. Neither player was injured, but Williams showcased his ability to be around the ball and force an incompletion on that play.

Perhaps that's a byproduct of soaking up as much information as he can.

Xavier McKinney was brought in to Green Bay to help stabilize the position. It remains to be seen what happens on the field, but WIlliams has found himself attached to his hip.

"Honestly, I've just tried to listen twice as much as I speak and see exactly what makes him tick." Williams said on Wednesday.

"Just being able to see his habits and see what it takes to be a great safety in this league has been a huge help for me."

Not only has Williams been attached to the hip of Xavier McKinney, but the Packers' receivers as well.

The Packers could use some help in the interceptions department. None of their primary starting safeties are back on the roster, and defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley has been emphasizing taking the ball away.

Williams has been part of that group, with perhaps his best play coming in Wednesday's practice.

The Packers' offense had the ball first-and-goal at the 9. Williams was locked up with Chrsitian Watson after making his read.

Watson has had a good camp, but Williams was in a good position.

Love released the ball toward Watson, and Williams undercut Love's pass for an interception to end the drive.

Williams' description of the play after practice helped show off how much of a quick study he has been as a rookie safety.

"It was just an internal hook." Williams said to Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

"First a read, run-pass, got a pass key. Was able to drop out of there. I saw a special coming from the front side, just a little over route from C Wat. I knew they didn't have much space behind me in the low red, so I was just kinda playing it underneath. He threw the ball, probably saw a little bit of height difference there. Just threw a little jump ball and I was able to go get it."

Williams' ability to diagnose that much information quickly against an offense designed to make things difficult on opposing defenders.

The 40" vertical helps as well when it comes to skying for interceptions.

Williams is going to have an opportunity to make more plays against opposing offenses in the preseason.

That starts on Saturday against Jameis Winston and the Cleveland Browns. Winston is known for a lot of things, and one of which is his propensity to put the ball in harms way.

That leads for more opportunities for players like Williams to make his mark.
