Team USA Gets Roasted After Failed 4x100 Relay Ends in DQ

It was a tough scene for the Team USA men's 4x100 relay group on Friday afternoon when a botched baton exchange led to their disqualification in the Olympic final.

The pass from Christian Coleman to Kenny Bednarek caused the Americans to stumble heading into the second leg of the race, with Bednarek leaving slightly too early. This caused the exchange to come outside of the designated zone, leading to their DQ.

It had been 20 years since the U.S. had medalled in this competition, and 24 years since they won the gold.

After all was said and done, the commentary from the public came, and a lot of it was negative. Olympic legend Carl Lewis had some incredibly harsh words for Team USA in general, and the infrastructure that's been put in place to help these athletes to succeed. meanwhile endless jokes came out on social media.

One of the biggest reasons for the blunder was likely due to the fact that USA's roster got shuffled around following the news that Noah Lyles would not be participating after his COVID diagnosis. In his place, Kyree King stepped in. However, Team USA moved the order around and put runners in the legs of the relay that they may not have been familiar with.

Either way, it was a tough sight for America and another disappointing outcome in the 4x100 relay.
