19-year-old girl found dead after jumping into Tuckertown Reservoir, Montgomery Emergency Services says

NEW LONDON, N.C. (WGHP) — A teenager has been found dead at the Tuckertown Reservoir in New London in Stanly County.

Friday evening, Montgomery Emergency Services searched for a missing 19-year-old girl who jumped into the reservoir and did not resurface. Officials would not release the specific location where the girl jumped into the water.

Crews were stationed along the 36800 block of N.C. 49 in New London.

Montgomery Emergency Services found the girl’s body later in the evening.

Emergency officials have not released further information on the circumstances of the girl’s death.
