I love Halloween but also love summer, so it’s a bittersweet thing for me.</p><h2>North Carolina Haunted House Named One of the Best in the U.S.</h2><p>The experts at Parade.com have put together a tally of the best haunted houses in the country. “It might be summer, but it’s never too early to get excited for some haunts and thrills when fall comes around,” they state. “Going to a haunted house—whether you go on Halloween night or in the days leading up to October 31—is a classic Halloween tradition, especially among teens and young adults.”</p><p>Looking at some of the biggest spots in the major meccas of America, Blood Manor in New York City is one to watch. The “massive 5,000-square-foot haunted attraction” features a bunch of themed rooms that are guaranteed to scare you silly. In California, a state known for their Hollywood scares, Reign of Terror Haunted House in Thousand Oaks is a top pick. This haunted attraction features more than 100 rooms. “So when you’re done with one room, you’ll be immediately transported to another haunted adventure,” which makes it extra scary. Granted, both of those haunted attractions are far away, but if you happen to be in New York or California this fall, they might be worth checking out.</p><p>So, which North Carolina haunted house has been named one of the best haunted houses in America? It’s the famed Kersey Valley Spookywoods in Archdale. This attraction has all kinds of special effects, and “even air pressure changes and claustrophobic spaces,” according to Parade.com. This year actually marks Kersey Valley Spookywoods’ 40th anniversary, so you can bet they’re doing it up bigger and better than ever. “With an average 4.5 rating and four decades of improvement, Spookywoods is the ultimate haunt for those brave enough to dive into the experience,” they state on their site. They add, “Enter our Midway, where every step sends shivers down your spine.” Of course, what makes Kersey so special is that it’s positioned on a massive 92-acre farm, Kersey Valley is your one-way ticket to an unimaginable experience. This North Carolina haunted house is also easy to get to, as Kersey Valley is located near Charlotte and Greensboro, right off I-85 Exit 113. They open in mid-September.
