Driver arrested for fleeing fatal crash back in July

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Las Vegas Metro Police say they’ve made an arrest in the case of a fatal hit run from early July.

Police back in the early morning hours of July 5 ^th , a man was putting gas into his car on the transition ramp from the westbound Southern Beltway to 15 North when he was struck by another vehicle. That vehicle fled north on I-15. The man filling up his tank, 40-year-old John Garay, died at the scene.

On Tuesday it was announced that 25-year-old Kiyana Mote was arrested in the case. Police say they used surveillance video and were able to trace the car to a local repair shop. They then traced the registration back to Mote and arrested her back on August 7th.

Mote is being held on $25,000 bail.
