The Chicago White Sox don't have much to play for down the home stretch of a lost 2024 season, but talent evaluation is arguably the most important aspect of the team's final month and a half on the diamond. Three young pitchers currently dealing with injuries are on the mend, per multiple reports. Here's the latest on Jordan Leasure, Michael Soroka, and Drew Thorpe.

As the White Sox returned from the All-Star break, a shoulder strain sidelined Michael Soroka. The right-hander is starting to work his way back to the mound as he threw a 15-pitch bullpen consisting of all fastballs on Tuesday. Soroka is scheduled to throw another bullpen Friday in Houston, per Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times .

Acquired in an offseason trade with the Atlanta Braves, Soroka struggled in the White Sox rotation to begin the season before a move to the bullpen. The 27-year-old fared better in a relief role and owns a 5.23 ERA through 72.1 innings in his first season on the South Side.

Jordan Leasure and Drew Thorpe are a bit behind Michael Soroka but will resume throwing soon. Van Schouwen added that Leasure and Thorpe were slated to complete a plyo program Tuesday and will begin throwing programs Thursday.

Leasure made his MLB debut in March and posted a 6.32 ERA in 31.1 innings before going on the injured list with a right shoulder impingement on July 8. Acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers at last season's trade deadline, the soon-to-be 26-year-old figures to be a mainstay in the White Sox bullpen for seasons to come.

The headliner of the White Sox' return in the Dylan Cease trade, Thorpe shined with Double-A Birmingham to begin the season and earned a big-league call-up in mid-June. The 6-foot-4 righty enjoyed a stretch of solid starts before faltering in two post-All-Star break outings, resulting in a 5.48 ERA across 44.1 MLB innings. Thorpe landed on the injured list with a right flexor strain on Aug. 1
